Hello gorgeous!
Have you ever seen such a cute face? Beau was found as a stray dog wandering the streets of New Orleans looking for a bite to eat. He came immediately to Cathy and devoured the canned cat food and gulped down the fresh water she offered him. Obviously loved by someone, Beau seems to be just a happy go lucky guy who just was down on his luck for awhile.
If he was a person, he would be a comedian. There is just something very light hearted and comical about him. And wait until you see his own unique brand of pooping. He likes to climb his back legs up onto something before making his doody, a bush, a tree branch, he will even try to climb backwards up a tree trunk! I bet you someone could train him to use a human toilet and next thing you know, Beau will be booked on the David Letterman show!
This is Beau sitting, he isn't sure what it means to "Sit" and he gets this look of fear on his face! Poor fella . . . he just never went to finishing school or was taught anything fancy like how to Sit or Stay or Heel. Although Beau should be given some credit for his smarts - because in just two short days, he is already learning to walk on a leash without pulling as much. He is just SO eager to please, he just wants to make you happy and is willing to do whatever it takes. He is just such a nice cooperative dog, he is going to make some nice family (hopefully with some fun kids to play ball with him) very happy. He is very lovable and friendly (to anyone he meets, he is not discerning at all).
Beau currently needs to find a foster home asap - while he is waiting out his 15 day hold (so that his owners have a chance to claim him, although he had no collar, no tags & no microchip).
Beau tested positive for heartworm and needs to begin treatment as soon as possible. He is also scheduled to get neutered on October 20th (however his surgery is going to be more expensive because he has complications with what is called an undescended testicle. This procedure is more complicated than a routine neuter; the missing testicle can be under his skin along the path it should have descended to the scrotum or it may be as far inside as the abdomen. His surgery is going to cost anywhere between $350-400 (plus his heartworm treatment which is going to be an ongoing expense).
If you would like to help Beau, you can do so in one of two ways:
1) You can contribute towards his medical expenses:
Best Friends Animal Hospital 818-766-2140
5425 Laurel Canyon Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91607
A huge grateful thanks to Dr. Sindy Habib, DVM for giving Beau a 30% rescue discount!
Just call the vet and tell them you would like to donate some money towards one of the Katrina Dogs that Cathy Stanley has getting treated there.
2) You can REALLY help by passing on Beau's picture and story to everyone you know - to help promote him so that he can find a really fantastic foster home (and hopefully permanent home).
Thank you so much and Beau sends his love and his thanks to you as well!
